Mike McNamara: Given the dust up that occurred after one questioner was prohibited from a Chamber Legislative Forum, what format will the next forum assume?
Barry Wilfahrt: “We’ll probably decide (the format of the legislative forum) two days prior to the forum whether we’re going to let people do live questions. My recommendation is going to be that we do, because I think after this incident some people have learned that if we want to keep this privilege, we going to have to be respectful. Hopefully it works.”
Kudos to the Chamber for two things: (1) running these forums, and (2) having a standard of conduct for those participating; both are important in promoting and reinforcing the idea of ARTICULATE DISCOURSE which is sadly lacking across the Nation.
I hope The Chamber continues to allow audience interaction.
I hope that those who choose to participate in these Forums do so with respect in their hearts, respect on their tongues and support the RESPECTFUL exchange of ideas.
I hope The Chamber sticks to its guns and removes disrespectful participants from future Forums.
Bravo to The Chamber and Mr. Wilfahrt.
